First CEEQUAL Achievements Awards unveiled

At a ceremony held on 14 March at the ICE, eight infrastructure and civil engineering projects in the UK were presented with an Outstanding Achievement Award. This event marked the first time that CEEQUAL has chosen to highlight any specific aspect of projects which have gone through the CEEQUAL assessment process. A further three projects picked up a total of nine Highly Commended trophies.

However, in two categories covered by CEEQUAL – Energy & Carbon, and Transport – no Outstanding Achievement Awards or Commendations were made.

34 applications were shortlisted, from which a diverse group of projects were chosen by the judges for their demonstration of genuine excellence:

The Awards were judged by Professor Paul Jowitt (former president of the ICE), Rosemary Beales (CEO of CECA), Professor Peter Guthrie (University of Cambridge), Anthony Oliver (Editor of New Civil Engineer), Nelson Ogunshakin (CEO of ACE) and Andrew Swain (CEEQUAL Director and Chair of the CEEQUAL Technical Advisory Group).
