CEEQUAL International launched

We are delighted to announce that the much anticipated CEEQUAL International Scheme has now been launched and will be promoted strongly to the industry and via the media in the weeks to come.

CEEQUAL International is our new scheme specifically created for the assessment of civil engineering and public realm projects outside the UK and Ireland.

We are deeply indebted to the many experts who have worked with us, for the benefit of the industry, to develop this new scheme. Their commitment and support has helped us respond to the strong demands from UK users with international interests to use the CEEQUAL assessment methodology on their projects outside the UK, and benefit from its influence on performance. As with the extensive use of the UK scheme, use of the International version will reflect commitment to high environmental and social standards and will yield improvements to projects.

The new International version will enable assessment of projects wherever there is demand. Existing users with international operations have expressed interest to use the new scheme on a wide range of projects in many different countries, but with particular emphasis on the Gulf states, Eastern Europe and South East Asia, where clients, contractors and consultants are increasingly seeking proven independent assessment techniques to help demonstrate improved sustainability performance.

In the UK version, the sections and question scores are weighted to reflect their overall contribution to project performance. With CEEQUAL International, blanket use of the UK weightings would be inappropriate because of differences in physical environmental conditions and/or culture. So, the project team undertaking an assessment with CEEQUAL International will need to undertake a weighting exercise specific to the local area of the project. The Assessor also needs to take into consideration the local regulations and practice of each country.
