CEEQUAL Chief Executive gives lecture and presents CEEQUAL Awards at Infrastructure Show 2011
Professor Roger Venables (Chief Executive, CEEQUAL) gave a presentation at the second day of the Infrastructure Show 2011 at the NEC, Birmingham on the 18th October. The presentation was entitled CEEQUAL- What you need to know, How it is most effectively used, and how will we see it modified into the future.
The presentation explained the reasons for using CEEQUAL, the mechanisms behind the three CEEQUAL Award Schemes available (can be found at www.ceequal.com), how the industry and its clients would benefit from using CEEQUAL (with past example projects), the process of undergoing a CEEQUAL Assessment and a progress update of the success of CEEQUAL to date.
After the presentation, Professor Venables presented the following CEEQUAL Awards:
- M40 Junction 15 (Longbridge) Improvement Scheme

Richard Coackley (President elect of the ICE) kindly awarded the following CEEQUAL project:

Railway
Interim Client & Design Award – Excellent (88.8%)

Award certificates were collected by Mike de Silva, Sustainability Manager for Crossrail Ltd, Martin Rowark, Head of Procurement for Crossrail Ltd and Rebecca Casey from Arup, was also present.
The Award recipients were very pleased to receive their Awards as confirmation of their commitment to and achievement of high standards of environmental and social performance on their projects.
Professor Venables commented: “It is always rewarding to celebrate the achievement of high environmental social performance on civil engineering projects as verified using CEEQUAL, and I was pleased also to have the opportunity to introduce another group of people new to CEEQUAL to the benefits of using the Scheme and how it works.”
CEEQUAL continues to progress in uptake and breadth of application. Headlines on progress are:
- nearly 400 projects have been or are being assessed;
- more than 100 completed assessments and almost 50 interim design assessments; and
- total value of all projects with current or completed assessments is more than £18 billion.
