CEEQUAL Excellent Award presented at the official opening Ceremony of the M74 Completion Project
On The M74 Completion Project received its CEEQUAL Whole Project Award at the official opening Ceremony of the project on Tuesday 28 June at Glasgow City Chambers.
The Glasgow City Council’s project, constructed by the Interlink M74 Joint Venture group and supported by a Jacobs and Atkins Design Team, achieved a score of 82% in the CEEQUAL assessment. The score recognises the extra care taken in waste management, material use and transport. For example:
- Crushed demolition materials has been utilised in providing the project with approximately 350,000 tonnes of material.
- The project is estimated to remove a signification number of vehicle movements per day from the Kingston Bridge, reducing congestion and improving local air quality.
- The introduction of a voluntary Site Waste management Plan compliant with the Regulations in England.
Interlink’s Environmental Manager John Logan, CEEQUAL assessor for the project said: “On behalf of the M74 Project Team, I would like to convey my thanks to the CEEQUAL staff who have assisted and supported us along the way on achieving this notable accolade. I'm sure that all of the parent companies within the M74 Joint Venture will have gained valuable experience through being part of application process, and that their participation in the CEEQUAL scheme and ethos will be adopted on other projects.”
CEEQUAL’s Chief Executive, Roger Venables said: “We thank Glasgow City Council, the Atkins & Jacobs Joint Venture and the Interlink M74 Joint Venture for using CEEQUAL UK Projects Version on the completion of the M74. About CEEQUAL
- CEEQUAL was originally developed by a team led by the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and part-funded by the ICE Research and Development Enabling Fund and the UK Government.
- Since the Scheme’s launch in late 2003, more than 70 final and more than 40 interim CEEQUAL Awards have been made to a very wide range of civil engineering and public realm projects. Almost all projects that have received an Award are listed on the CEEQUAL website.
